Anatolia's Sun Illuminates the Future
2030 Carbon Footprint Goals and Renewable Energy Report
Our world is rapidly changing and natural resources are gradually depleting. The effects of climate change are becoming more evident each day. Rising temperatures, extreme weather events, and changing precipitation patterns are creating serious pressures on agriculture and natural ecosystems. In this process, it is crucial for all countries to take concrete steps to reduce their carbon footprint. According to United Nations data, global average temperatures have increased by 1.1 degrees in the last decade, and this trend continues.
Turkey, thanks to its geographical location and natural resources, is one of Europe's leading countries in terms of renewable energy potential. Significant investments are being made especially in solar and wind energy fields, and dependence on fossil fuels in energy production is being reduced. Our country has adopted the target of net zero emissions by 2053. The Turkish energy sector recorded significant progress by increasing renewable energy capacity by 45 percent in the last five years. Solar energy installed capacity exceeded 10 GW and this figure continues to grow every year.
Sustainable agriculture is critical to ensuring food security for future generations. Smart farming technologies, efficient use of water resources, and organic production methods have become fundamental elements of modern agriculture. When Turkey's fertile lands are combined with innovative agricultural practices, they offer opportunities to both protect the environment and increase agricultural productivity. Thanks to digital agriculture solutions, water consumption can be reduced by up to 30 percent while crop yields can be increased by the same rate. These technologies are becoming accessible to everyone from small-scale farmers to large agricultural enterprises.
